چکیده

TheCORONAS satellite, launched on 1994March 2, carried theDIFOS experiment to observe irradiance fluctuations due to global solar oscillations. The DIFOS experiment was working for almost 50 days near solar activity minimum. We present first results of the Fourier analysis of the full time series. The fine structure of the low-l p-modes is shown and fitted with Lorentzian line profiles. Results of the wavelet analysis show strong variations of the p-modes in time.

Relation between DIFOS ”irradiance” data and solar activity

Solar irradiance measurements with the DIFOSphotometer aboard the satellite CORONAS-I were compared with short term variations of solar activity. The sunspot blocking effect was confirmed and an anticorrelation with the 2600 MHz radio flux is very pronounced. Furthermore a close relation to the large scale structure of the magnetic field existed during the observational period from 1994, March ...

LOW-DEGREE LOW-ORDER SOLAR p MODES AS SEEN BY GOLF ON BOARD SOHO

Data recovered from the GOLF experiment on board the ESA/NASA SOHO spacecraft have been used to analyze the low-order low-degree solar velocity acoustic-mode spectrum below ν = 1.5 mHz (i.e., 1 ≤ n ≤ 9, l ≤ 2). Various techniques (periodogram, RLAvCS, homomorphicdeconvolution and RLSCSA) have been used and compared to avoid possible biases due to a given analysis method. In this work, the acous...

Visibility of stars, halos, and rainbows during solar eclipses.

The visibility of stars, planets, diffraction coronas, halos, and rainbows during the partial and total phases of a solar eclipse is studied. The limiting magnitude during various stages of the partial phase is presented. The sky radiance during totality with respect to noneclipse conditions is revisited and found to be typically 1/4000. The corresponding limiting magnitude is +3.5. At totality...

The onset of solar cycle 24 What global acoustic modes are telling us

We study the response of the low-degree, solar p-mode frequencies to the unusually extended minimum of solar surface activity since 2007. A total of 4768 days of observations collected by the space-based, Sun-as-a-star helioseismic GOLF instrument are analyzed. A multi-step iterative maximum-likelihood fitting method is applied to subseries of 365 days and 91.25 days to extract the p-mode param...

Power spectra comparison between GOLF and spatially masked MDI velocity signals

The Global Oscillations at Low Frequency (GOLF) and the Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) instruments aboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) give an excellent opportunity to search for solar low frequency oscillation modes previously undetected from ground based experiments. Presented here is a comparison of the velocity power spectra between the two instruments. In addition, this pa...
